About ORC Cricket Club

ORC Cricket Club is a member of the Bathurst District Cricket Association (BDCA) and Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket (BOIDC). The club is affectionately known as ‘The Orcans’.

The clubs logo of a Tiger is used by many sporting teams from the Oberon area. ORC’s club colours are red, gold and black.

Our major sponsor is PANTHERS BATHURST.

History

The club was formed as the result of a merger between three parent clubs: Oberon Cricket Club, Bathurst RSL Cricket Club and the Country Cricket Club. There is evidence of an ‘Oberon Cricket Club’ playing as far back as the 1890’s.

If you have any ORC Cricket Club related memorabilia (score cards, photos) you would like to share, please email us and we will add it to our website.

ORC Today

ORC currently fields sides in 4 grades of the BDCA and BOIDC senior competition : First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade and Presidents Cup. After a 3 year hiatus in first grade, ORC returns to first grade for the BOIDC 2021/22 competition after a successful 2020/21 season taking out the BDCA 2nd and 3rd grade premierships.

Representative Players

In addition to the many players who have represented Bathurst, ORC has supplied several higher representative players.  Bruce Webb and Brendan Inwood are both former captains of  Western Zone teams.

Talented juniors Jacob Ryan, Justin Stephenson, Fletcher Norris, Hamish Seigert and Thomas Judge all Western Zone representatives.

Ex-ORC opening bowler Kent French made his senior representative début playing for the ACT against a full strength Queensland side in a Mercantile Mutual Cup match in 1999. He played five ‘A List’ matches for the ACT side during the 1999/2000 season, bowling to the likes of Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Simon Katich, Michael Slater, Mike Hussey and Darren Lehmann.

Junior Cricketers

The club encourages junior cricketers to make the step up into senior cricket through the Presidents Cup side.

Premiers in the 2017/18, 2019/20 and Runners Up in 2020/21, the futures looking great with a number of these talented juniors also playing in the senior competition across all grades

The Presidents Cup grade is aimed at giving young cricketers a path into senior cricket, by placing restrictions on players over 17 and by requiring teams to field a certain number of players between the ages of 13 and 17.

The Future of ORC

ORC Cricket Club, its players and its supporters are looking forward to an equally successful season.
